WKHR 91.5 FM in Cleveland plays big band and pop standards.

Cleveland is lucky to have the best big band station in the country. It is another fine listener supported (ie. no advertising) radio station that has an online stream. FM 91.5 WKHR features music primarily from the 30's and 40's. Most of the DJ's are volunteering for 1-3 hours per week.

91.5 FM's playlist includes music by Frank Sinatra, Perry Como, Duke Ellington, and just about any record that charted before 1954.

There were show ideas circumnavigating my wishy-washy mind. I have not had a regular radio gig since I quit The Modern World back in September 2006. Continuing a morning shift might still be the most convenient but I might stick with the newest music and make a small compromise with the older songs I so often played while on the air in the past twenty-odd years. However, I need to find that extra time that was once more available during the earlier part of this decade. More news about this soon.

In the meantime, you can still tune into WEVL to hear The Modern World hosted by Scott. It is still a great Friday morning dig into the best of the punk era.

Ready to play more records on WEVL

Finally, I will be on the air bright and early at 6 AM. If you are not in the Memphis area, tune in to WEVL Online webcast.

I am digging through the stack of new releases and personal favorites before then. Please let me know if you have any request for the Tuesday Morning Show.

Coincidentally, if you like music and want to be a DJ on WEVL, I know they are looking for at least one or more DJs.

When: Tuesday June 19, 2007 6AM Central

Both the casual and die-hard Pretenders fan will find a treasure of good material in the new box set released by Pretenders. The only letdown for me is that there aren't many unreleased goodies from the original lineup of James Honeyman-Scott, Pete Farndon, Martyn Chambers, and Chrissie Hynde. The four tracks on this week's The Modern World are all rare tracks that have not been reissued on CD in the US.
